Mediation
Utilizing his considerable business and family law experience, and extensive knowledge of the alternative dispute resolution (ADR) process, Ed adapts the mediation services he provides to satisfy the requirements of the attorneys and parties that seek his assistance.

After receiving basic mediation training, Ed became a mediator in 1992. Serving as an attorney mediator since then, Ed has mediated cases in many areas of the law , including:

    This list is representative of his mediation experience; he also has experience in complex cases involving multiple parties. Because he was raised in Guatemala, Ed is completely at ease providing his mediation services in Spanish, as well as English.

    In addition to his initial training, Ed completed advanced mediation and negotiation training in 1993, along with family law mediation training in 2008. All of this experience enhances his ability to provide lawyers and their clients with the highest quality mediation services possible.

    Ed is a tenacious but respectful mediator who fully understands that his role is to serve his clients by guiding them in their efforts to achieve a satisfactory resolution of the conflict. He has the necessary patience and sense of neutrality and empathy that allows him to be a recognized fair and trustworthy mediation professional, skilled in a variety of mediation styles including facilitative, evaluative, collaborative and transformative methods.

    Arbitration
    Since 1992, Ed has been serving as an arbitrator, a type of private judge in a wide range of cases. He has been appointed either as a sole arbitrator or on panels of 3 arbitrators.  Ed serves as a Panel Member on panels of the American Arbitration Association (AAA) including the Commercial Panel.  He is dedicated to utilizing his knowledge of arbitration proceedings to provide parties with a fair, impartial hearing. Ed has completed many trainings that enhance his abilities as an arbitrator, beginning with AAA Large Complex Case Program, 1996, AAA International Commercial Arbitration Training, 1993, AAA Advanced Arbitration Training, 1992, AAA Basic Arbitration Training, 1992.
